The following is a list of rules that all student must observe while in the Library.
  • Violations of any of these rules may result in the loss of Library Privileges.

CONDUCT:
The Library is a place of quiet study. Students are expected to observe the Rules of Conduct as stated in the Student Handbook.

STUDY HALL PASS PROCEDURE:
Passes to come to the Library during Study Hall must be obtained no later than 10:07 a.m. (end of Period 3).The number of passes available for any particular period is determined by scheduled class use. Student must have an ID to get a pass.
Passes are shown to study hall teachers. When arriving back in the library, the student returns the pass to the box on the circulation desk (or to the staff at the desk).

TEACHER-ISSUED PASSES:
Subject teachers may issue written passes to students for their specific library-related assignments and only during their actual class period.
Student must sign the sign-in sheet when they enter the library and show the pass to the librarian.
Substitute teachers MAY NOT issue passes to students. Substitute teachers MAY NOT bring classes to the library unless they have permission from the librarian.

FREE PERIODS/LUNCH:
Students may come to the library during a free period. They must sign in on the sign-in clipboard when they enter the library. Occasionally,as a result of scheduling or class use, the library may limit the number of students admitted to the library during free periods.
Students may come to the library during their lunch period. Students arriving within the first 5-10 minutes of the period, may enter without a pass. Students wishing to eat lunch should get a library pass before their lunch period. After they have eaten lunch in the cafeteria, they can show the pass to a cafeteria duty teacher and then proceed to the library.
The librarians may write passes from the library to lunch.

FOOD/DRINK:
Food, gum and drinks are strictly prohibited in the library. Bottled water is allowed.


INTERNET USE:
Every student is given the opportunity to have an Internet account free of charge, providing an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is signed by a parent/guardian and student and submitted to the library.
Students are issued a computer account by the Librarians. They are expected to remember their usernames and passwords because they will use them for the entire time they are at CHS. If a student forgets his/her password, they must see a Librarian to reset their password.
The Library computers are filtered in compliance with State, Federal and Board of Education policy.

COMPUTER ATTACHMENT :
Students cannot download an attachment from their email onto the library computers. Place content in the body of an email. At school, open up WORD, cut and paste the content into a blank document. Use of cloud-based storage (such as DropBox, Box or GoogleDrive) is encouraged.
